Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Casezy (“Casezy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and govern your access to and use of the Casezy website, chat product, and related services (the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or submitting a question, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Casezy is — and is not

Casezy is an AI-assisted product that provides general legal information. It is intended to help you understand a situation in plain language and, where available, point you to public sources you can check.

Casezy is not a law firm, lawyer, or legal services provider. The Service does not give legal advice, does not create an attorney-client relationship, and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. Communications with Casezy are not confidential or privileged. Do not treat anything generated by the Service as a legal opinion, filing instruction, or representation that we will act for you.

You are solely responsible for how you use the information you receive. Deadlines, statutes, procedures, and outcomes depend on facts and location. If your situation is urgent, high-stakes, or you are unsure what to do, consult a qualified attorney or the appropriate court, agency, or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not rely on Casezy in an emergency.

Marketing language on the site, including references to finding or connecting with a verified attorney, describes a possible future capability. Casezy does not currently operate an attorney-referral, matching, or introduction service, and nothing on the Service is a recommendation or endorsement of any lawyer.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet that requirement and have the legal capacity to enter these Terms. The Service is not directed to children.

3. Accounts and guest use

You may start one guest conversation without an account. After that guest use, you must create an account to keep asking questions. Accounts are provided through Clerk, our authentication provider. You are responsible for the information you provide to Clerk and for keeping your login credentials confidential.

If you later create an account on the same browser, we may attach any guest conversation stored for that browser to your account so you can keep it.

You must provide accurate account information and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been used without authorization. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated, the account is compromised, or continued use presents a risk to the Service or other users.

4. The chat service

When you submit a question, we send the conversation to Vercel AI Gateway, which routes it to a Google Gemini model to generate a response. We may also send the question to Pinecone to retrieve materials from our source library and display citations. Answers can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Citations, if shown, are for your review and do not guarantee that the answer is accurate or complete.

Signed-in conversations and your one guest conversation are stored so you can return to them. We do not currently offer in-product deletion of chat history. See the Privacy Policy for how to request access or deletion.

We may change, rate-limit, or discontinue features, models, or the Service as a whole. We do not currently charge for the Service. If we introduce paid features, we will describe the price and terms before you are charged.

5. Your content

You retain whatever rights you have in the questions, prompts, and other material you submit (“User Content”). You grant Casezy a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display User Content as needed to operate, secure, debug, and provide the Service, including sending it to the processors listed in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to submit the User Content and that doing so does not violate law or anyone else’s rights. Do not submit information you are not authorized to share. Because chats are stored and processed by third parties to generate answers, you should not treat the Service as a safe place for secrets, passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or other data you would not put in an ordinary web form.

Output generated by the Service may be similar to output provided to other users. We do not claim copyright in your User Content. We do not grant you any right in Casezy’s name, design, software, or library materials beyond the limited right to use the Service under these Terms.

6. Acceptable use

You may not, and may not attempt to:

• Use the Service to obtain legal advice for a specific matter as if Casezy were your lawyer, or hold out Casezy output as the work of a licensed attorney.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, stalking, harassment, or the unauthorized practice of law.
• Upload malware, probe, scan, or attack the Service, or circumvent access, rate, or guest-use limits.
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy the Service or its outputs except as allowed by ordinary use of the interface or by law.
• Reverse engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
• Impersonate another person, misrepresent your affiliation, or create accounts by automated means.
• Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive a court, agency, or another person about the source or reliability of legal information.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and compilation, is owned by Casezy or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you. Feedback you send us may be used to improve the Service without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties, including Clerk (accounts), MongoDB (database), Vercel (hosting and AI Gateway), Google (Gemini model), and, when source retrieval is used, Pinecone. Those providers have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions except as required by law. Links to official or other third-party sites are provided for convenience; we do not control those sites.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CASEZY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR ANY OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS OR SATISFY ANY LEGAL REQUIREMENT.

AI-generated information can hallucinate facts, miss deadlines, and omit exceptions. You assume all risk for reliance on the Service.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CASEZY AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) TWENTY-FIVE U.S. DOLLARS (US $25). BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS CURRENTLY OFFERED WITHOUT CHARGE, THAT AMOUNT WILL TYPICALLY BE US $25.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those places, the above limits apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such a limit is prohibited.

11. Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Casezy and its officers, employees, and contractors from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access at any time, including if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 1, 5 through 11, 13, and 14) will survive termination.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

14. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Casezy regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If a provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, merger, or sale of assets.

These Terms are governed by applicable United States law. If you are a consumer, you also keep any non-waivable rights under the laws of the place where you live. Subject to those rights, you and Casezy will resolve disputes in a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship. Headings are for convenience only.
